Good Ol’ St. Augustine – Book Excerpt 1

December 14, 2012

Excerpt 1 from “The Ensuite Life.” Travel can mean many things to many people, something that hasn’t changed over the centuries. Given that St. Augustine was born in the year AD 354, I’m thinking travel by horseback was a bit more arduous than travel today. At least he didn’t have to deal with a TSA pat down.

Then again, the world was flat back in his day, so people probably didn’t want to venture as far, lest they fall off the edge. Can you imagine traveling the world with a tour guide who happened to also be a saint? If that’s not a way to get to the head of the line for entry into the world’s great churches, nothing is. And nothing beats getting to the head of a line of tourists.
