Goodbye LA

I had been talking about leaving LA for so long, that people stopped taking me seriously. The eye rolls and the “yeah, yeah, we’ve heard that forever.”

But it really is easier said than done. Leaving 23 years, a condo that needed to be rented, and some awesome friends behind – that’s a huge chunk of one’s life. But the time has come and it appears the stars have aligned in making it the right moment to do so. Continue reading “Goodbye LA”

New Site New Blog

I’ve updated The Ensuite Life and made it a book-centric site. This is my new blog site (work in progress) that will encompass travel, writing, and general musing on various topics that interest me. After all, maintaining a nomadic life is to take everything in and share it with everyone.

Site Builder

My first attempt at building a site since the old days of static HTML and Dreamweaver (hello, 1999). It’s been fun but longer than I thought. Isn’t everything?

New Digs

With the publication of my book based on my round-the-world journey, I’ve moved all the blog posts from my previous blog, “My Own Amazing Race: 84 Days to Circle the Globe,” to this site. Below this post are the archives.

We Pause for…The Amazing Race

Taking a pause here in the prep plans to mention my favorite show, The Amazing Race, had its season premiere last night and didn’t disappoint! Even after seeing the watermelon video numerous times, it still cracked me up. Early favorites? The doctors and the YouTube kid and his father. Early team to hate? The former college football player and the woman that he will soon ask to marry and divorce (unless they split up on the race first, a distinct possibility). Oh, and darn that I didn’t include the “country of London” on my itinerary. Maybe next time!

Keeping An Off-Topic Rant On-Topic

Since I plan to stay at mostly self-service apartments/hotels during the trip, I wonder if when I go to the market, upon entering or exiting, I will be accosted by someone wanting a donation, to sign a petition, or to buy something I don’t need like I do here every freaking time I go to a store!

Bird Watching

I will be missing most of the NFL season, not to mention baseball playoffs, while I’m traveling.  It should be an interesting season for the Eagles with McNabb gone.  I bought a Slingbox, which allows me to watch my DVR on my laptop, so I can record any games, then play them back, which solves some Eagles games (thank goodness there is no NFL team in LA and most national games are aired, oftentimes the Eagles) and the MLB playoffs (go Phillies!).  But for those that are not on TV, I’ll be searching for some American sports bars to watch the games (and hopefully meet fellow Birds’ fans).
